Justin and Huckleberry DelSignore purchased 34 N pearl street in September 2007. The property was severely neglected and both the apartment and the warehouse were in dire need of repair. Justin and Huck began work immediately with the help of many people in the community and major ingenuity making a miniscule budget stretch. In a short time the apartments were brought to a livable standard (though more work needs to be done) and the first residents moved in. Once spring arrived the focus moved toward the warehouse lovingly referred to as The Copperworks.
After some major spring cleaning, the first programing was initiated at the Copperworks. Setting aside two nights a week, the Copperworks was home to Monday Night Movies and Thursday Bike Night. These events being very informal, welcomed a wide aray of community members. Through the summer of 2008 music events were added to the roster, invting local and out of town musicians to play shows in the informal warehouse setting.
By the autumn of 2008, just one year after purchasing the property, Justin and Huck, with the help and participation of so many people, have made an impact on the Berkshire County night life scene. It has been a great honeymoon, and is now time to begin the major work neccesary to make this informal space a fixture in the county’s art culture.
