here it is:
Thursday, June 25th
27 female models in jersey mini dresses as zoo animals.
9 male zookeepers in full jumpsuits.
Many tourists.
Each model is asked to arrive at 10pm unless otherwise specified.
Female models, please arrive with high heels and major bling.
Male models, bring your favorite accessory and whiskey.
Tourist, be tacky.
Upon arrival, models’ photo will be taken, model release signed and, $10 collected toward the cost of costumes.
The model will receive an assignment and schedule for shoot then head to costume department, hair & make-up.
Before the shoot each animal will take a mug shot in the office then a shoot with the other similar species in the cardboard cage.
After all the collective species photos have been taken, we will move into a series of group shots followed by photos with the band Bella’s Bartok in the cardboard cage.
I am sure an after party will follow with lots of wild animals dancing…. can hardly wait to see you there.
We will be working on this project all week so if you happen to have free time and want to put a few hours in, we’d be happy to put you to work!
The grand re-collection of Bella’s Bartok for the first time this year(for real) will be playing at the C-works on June 20th at 8pm.
Opening them will be Evan Randall of the Evan Randall Band.
“Is there a ‘Xiu Xiu scene’? You know, Xiu Xiu, Parenthetical Girls, The Dead Science… all distinct, yeh, but all still on some level cut from the same basic template- mewling feminised vocals, sense of high drama and trauma, atonal, often counter-intuitive arrangements… you know what I mean. But in the same way that Parenthetical Girls have a sumptuous, sickly, almost *poppy* allure that Xiu Xiu probably won’t ever have, so The Dead Science are the totally killer rock band that Xiu Xiu can never hope to be.”
“avant-rock and Stravinsky meet and start to beat each other up a bit as someone howls about the end of the world in the background”
The Dead Science. It’ll be fun. Promise.
Then, there’s Bobby Conn + Monica Bou bou. I will say very little, but direct you to watch this video. I have enjoyed it, and so will you kids.
Soooooo, for some reason this didn’t get posted soon enough. You might have miss FANCIE last time, but if you where there, you were amazed. You have no excuse for not showing up this time as you have been warned. FANCIE is dynamic and charged by an unseen light that is found in the castle of the litte mermaid. Or somthing similar to that. this stuff is radical. Here’s her link. Elizabeth RULES!
Then, there’s the wonderful Adrian Orange. Where do I start. Also known as Thanksgiving, or Lyllyy, or AJO, Adrian Orange and her band or even AOK. Maybe, A.O. or A. Orangina too. People love to quote Mr. Phil (Mount Eriee) as saying “the best songs ever written are being written RIGHT NOW by Adrian Orange”. Yes, people like to say that. I love what Adrian Does, so should you. He’s everchanging and who knows what he’ll be doing this time out.
Then, there’s Stephen Steinbrink. Also known as French Quarter, man the folks love aliases. Me too. Here’s what someone other than me said about them, “Formerly known as French Quarter Stephen Steinbrink is a 20 year old singer/songwriter whose compositions are far more achieved than about 95% of the other stuff out there in this realm. With an ear for catchy bedroom melodies, Steinbrink does an impressive job of leaving enough unanswered questions to lend the proceedings a mystery all their own.” I think that’s pretty apt and about what I would say.
Oh, and lest we forget, there’s Hell-Kite. She’s got this voice, I somthing powerful to it. This is the kind of sound that accompanies me under my bed as I drink Wild Turkey in the dark of night. And I love it. Check out her song “cabin”. It reminds me of a modern Sibylle Baier.
Doors are to open-ified at 7:30 for the gift of $10 per person.
